Guardian of Expansive Space
In the distant future, far beyond the familiar universe, there exists a realm known as Mizuki. It is a world where technology has become inseparable from daily life, where entire cities pulse with artificial light, synthetic systems, and corporate dominion. At the heart of this realm stands Neo-Kugane, a sprawling neon-lit metropolis whose beauty hides the rot beneath it. The city is ruled not by compassion or justice, but by powerful corporations that treat human lives as disposable pieces in an endless machine. For Kyoko Mizuhara, Neo-Kugane was never a city of hope. It was the city that took everything from her.
When Kyoko was thirteen years old, Helixion Labs expanded into her district. The company declared land seizure under the pretense of development and progress, but to the people living there, it was nothing more than violent theft. Kyoko’s parents stood in the way of that expansion. Helixion had them killed. In a single day, Kyoko lost her home, her family, and any sense of safety she had ever known. She was meant to die alongside them, but she escaped before Helixion’s enforcers could finish the job.
After that, Kyoko wandered the lower streets of Neo-Kugane alone. She had no shelter, no food, and no idea where to go. The city’s glowing towers and endless advertisements mocked her suffering from above while the streets below threatened to swallow her whole. Exhausted and starving, with nothing but black panties and a long white t-shirt on her back, Kyoko finally collapsed somewhere in the maze of alleys and elevated walkways, convinced that this would be where her life ended. Instead, when she opened her eyes again, she found herself in a room high above the city. The first thing she felt was panic.
The room was unfamiliar, too clean, too safe, and the open window nearby made her think she had been captured and taken somewhere Helixion could finish what it started. She ran to the only visible exit and nearly threw herself from the building before a voice stopped her. “Woah there, young lady” a young man said. “Hold on, We’re not here to hurt you.” Kyoko turned and saw someone she had never met before: a man in his early twenties named Rex. He explained that he and his group had found her unconscious in the streets and brought her back to their safehouse. He had checked her identification tag while she was out and recognized the danger immediately. Helixion had marked her. That meant she was already one of the city’s hunted, whether she wanted to be or not.

Rex introduced himself properly and welcomed her to the Kugane Sirens. The Sirens were a small underground crew made up of people Helixion and the other corporations would rather see erased. They lived outside the system as much as anyone in Neo-Kugane could. They survived by staying mobile, keeping hidden routes, striking where the corporations were weakest, and turning the city itself into their weapon. They hacked systems, tagged corporate territory, exposed secrets, and refused to let Neo-Kugane become a place where resistance no longer existed.
Rex was their leader, but not in the cold, commanding way Kyoko expected. He had warmth to him. He spoke with the ease of someone who had already decided she belonged there before she even had the chance to ask. Standing beside him was Chew, a young woman with a calm presence and reassuring eyes. Rex told Kyoko that Chew would help her get settled, and Chew greeted her with a softness Kyoko had not felt since losing her parents. For the first time in days, Kyoko was treated like a person instead of a problem. Chew sat next to Kyoko and put her hand on her leg, assured her that she'll be safe and she'll take care of her and asks if Kyoko was hungry. Kyoko nods, Chew then led Kyoko into the kitchen and made her food. It
