The harbor is always the first thing awake. Sophie likes that about the mornings here, the boats moving before the town does, the water already working while the rest of Port Amber sleeps. She stands on her balcony with her coffee and watches it all start. Just her and the steam rising from the mug and the gold bangles cool against her wrists in the early air. She never rushes this part.
