Lamplight

Some evenings, this is all she needs. A good book, the lamp on, and the sound of Port Amber settling into night outside her window. Sophie has always been good at being still, at finding comfort in the quiet before tomorrow begins. The gold bangles catch the warm light. The city glows softly behind her. She doesn't look up.
